About Ayako Mori, LCSW

Born and raised in Japan, I immigrated to the U.S alone in order to attend college in 2000. I earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 2008 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California (LCSW 68173) in 2015.

I believe in working with clients by utilizing my authentic self and empowering my clients to create their own new and healthy path. A path that is unique to their individual lives. I will explore any underlying issues and challenges and am committed to helping clients create their own path utilizing a mind and body approach. In order to gain more insight into their issues, I utilize several approaches, sometimes asking challenging questions that will encourage my clients to achieve self realization and recognize the barrier that has prevented them from making changes to their lives.

I hold a high regard for “pursuing passion” and serve as an advocate, encouraging others to utilize their passions in their everyday lives. Personally, I am very passionate about the effects of music and singing, anime, comics (One Piece and Slamdunk are my bible and I  learned the importance of breathing from Demon Slayer), cooking nutritious food, and hiking/jogging.

Yoga has been my stress relief (a life changer!) from my intense work as a psychotherapist. I am a major advocate for crying as a healthy form of emotional release and self care in order to thrive. Throughout the past few years, I have become passionate about sharing the effects of yoga with my clients, allowing others to share the same opportunity that I have had to heal from difficult and painful trauma/life events.

Both yoga and psychotherapy believe in showing up for oneself and continuing to work on the journey one day at the time.

In my wide range of experience as a psychotherapist, I have worked closely with infants/children and their families, juveniles, homeless, both young and older adults in non-profit, county mental health/health care facilities, mental health urgent care, and private hospital settings.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness and have worked with clientele experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, life adjustment issues, relationship/dating issues, and DV issues.

As a yoga teacher, I specialize in restorative yoga to help both the body and mind create conscious relaxation.

During the pandemic, I worked as a mental health specialty disaster service worker in LA County Department of Mental health and was nominated as a social worker of the year in LA County Department of Mental health.

I just returned from a transformative trip to Thailand and completed a Crystal Bowl Sound therapy training from Chiangmai Holistic. I can’t wait to share what I learned with you and support your journey!
